Making it Happen…

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

This is a quote from Steve Jobs that I believe to be true. Or as our founding fathers would say, “self evident.”

When someone says to me that a single person can’t make a difference, that what is required is a committee or roundtable – I take issue. While the free lunches and meetings in fancy boardrooms may be nice… vision, tenacity, and empowerment allow organizations to thrive.

When you innovate, you make mistakes. Admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations. Allow your employees room and space to be creative. If you’ve hired them, then trust in them.

Don’t put up barriers with charts and graphs between you and your employees that no one looks at and keeps them tied to their desks.

Get about the business, of doing business.
